Eastern Mindfulness

Setting and achieving goals…seems like a simple enough process and one that everyone follows. However, here are some stats that illustrate to the contrary:

A Harvard study suggests 83% of the US population does not have goals.

According to a study by University of Scranton, 92% of people that set New Year’s goals never actually achieve them.

14% of people have a goal plan in mind, but these are unwritten goals.

Goals ‘held’ in the mind are more likely to be jumbled up with other 1500 thoughts per minute that an average human mind experiences.

Less than 3% Americans have written goals and less than % review and rewrite them on a daily basis.

Over 80% of small business owners don’t keep track of their business goals.

All of us make goals with utmost optimism and enthusiasm, be it broadening our horizons, picking up a new skill or improving our health. But, more often than not, these noble goals fall wayside.

What can we do to set and achieve our goals effectively?

An excellent way to help you stay on track and make it easier to achieve goals is taking up a mindfulness program. These programs are designed to inculcate a combination of relaxation, meditation, visualization, breathing practices which help:

Stay in the present, settle your mind.

Get attuned to your essence.

Confront the fear of failure.

Admit difficult feelings without acceding to them

Why join a mindfulness program to set and achieve goals successfully?

Through a mindfulness program, you learn to be in a state of being aware and attentive of your life events and experiences. You also learn to be open and accepting of these life events and experiences. Mindfulness helps you influence goals as it lends a more gentle, real and realizable tone to them. It helps you set and achieve goals better as you learn to:

Treat a goal as a commitment rather than a destination.

Measure success not as a specific outcome but as the learning process.

Accept that goals will evolve with practice.

Have complete clarity of your goals.

Be committed to what you want, align your priorities.

Be more focused, not indulging distractions.

Build internal motivation, let go of perceptions.

Observe your thoughts, accept the unpleasant.
